Samsung November Update For Galaxy Devices in 2024 Brings Major Fixes and Restrictions

If you are using any of the latest Samsung Galaxy phones, you might have gotten the notification to update to the latest Samsung November update.

Samsung company news took the users by storm when they received this “urgent” new update, but what it actually is, and which devices will get the software update? Let’s find out.

The latest Samsung update is for the Auto Switch Agent, which allows users to transfer data between other devices. Although the update seems a regular security measure, it does highlight some vulnerabilities and issues Galaxy devices might be having.

Samsung security update 2024 is around 3 megabytes, and users can update or cancel it. One of the updates focuses on Auto Blocker, which will block all USB connections except those used only for charging purposes when set to “Maximum Restrictions.”

The Auto Blocker is a very useful feature that blocks unauthorized third-party apps, but Samsung was sued due to the features by Epic Games recently. The Company claimed that Samsung does not provide a way to authorize third-party apps. However, Samsung took the Auto Blocker feature to a new end of restriction.

Now, if someone even has physical access to your device, they won’t be able to access your data if your phone is on ” Maximum Restriction.” While it is a really great feature in case your phone gets stolen or someone tries to install malware through the USB, it might rob users of the convenience of data transfer. However, you can still use wireless means to share data with other devices.

Furthermore, there are more than 30 other high-priority security fixes, however, there are no critical changes in the Samsung software update list. You can check this in Google’s November Android Security Bulletin, and any future updates will also be included.

Devices That Are Getting the Samsung November Update

The November security update will expand to more devices, but for now, the following devices are getting the security fixes.

  • Samsung Galaxy S24/24+/24 Ultra
  • Samsung Galaxy S23/23+/23 Ultra
  • Samsung Galaxy S21/21+/21 Ultra
  • Samsung Galaxy S21 FE
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4
  • Galaxy Tab S10+/S10 Ultra
  • Galaxy Tab S7 FE and 5G
  • Galaxy Tab S6 Lite

The new update is set to be available globally, but when you receive the patch depends on many factors, including region, carrier, and device. If you haven’t updated, you can do so manually by going to Settigns>Software Update>Download, and if you want to turn on the maximum security, Go to navigate Settigns>Privacy and Security> Scroll down to Auto Blocker> click the Maximum Restrictions and toggle it on.

Now that Samsung is set to release one UI 7 based on Android 15 earlier in 2025, the real problem with the new Samsung update is if it is to be set to default in UI 7, which might be frustrating for day-to-day use because it also removed the link previews from images, and hinder many other data related functionalities. So, Let us know in the comments below if you will keep the “Maximum Restrictions” on or if you won’t bother to use it.
